Espar Heater Systems manufactures diesel-fired heating systems to provide cab and sleeper heat in trucks, eliminating the need to idle the engine for heat. Espar also supplies independent coolant systems for quick engine pre-heating. These systems require no electrical plug-ins and are ideal for cold weather starting.

Adam Gibbard has worked at COOL-IT for over seven years. He has experience in Management, Administration, and HVAC Systems, certified by Environment Canada, B.C. Ministry of Environment, Lands, and Parks, Espar Heater Systems, and BCIT. Outside of professional life, Adam is an enthusiastic member of the Fraser Valley Athletic Soccer Club and would like to start a family with his wife in the near future.

Bill Robertson is British Columbia’s leading HVAC Technician with over three decades of hands-on experience in the field. Originally trained at British Columbia Institute of Technology, Bill completed three years of prescribed training as a registered apprentice in the science of Automotive Radiator Manufacturing and Repair. Excellent customer service and commitment to quality are Bill’s trademarks.

Christian Saint-Laurent is an HVAC Technician certified by Espar Heater Systems in complex Airtronic and Hydronic Heaters. He holds a Class One Driver’s License and has over a decade of hands-on experience in the field across North America. He is a mechanic with three decades of experience in light and heavy duty engines and welding. Christian’s hobbies include fishing and world travel, most recently in Japan.

Cool-It Hiway Services Inc.—a small company that manufactures heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for the transportation sector—will benefit from the project. Researchers will help the company adopt more efficient compressors and replace heavy-lead acid batteries in systems with lighter lithium-ion batteries. The project will also design, test and rate a new made-in-Canada heat pump that produces both heat and cold air, using power from a battery instead of an idling engine.
