In Canada, all airtanker actions on wildfires come under the command and control of an Air Attack Team. This team is comprised of an experienced pilot and an experienced fire fighter. Their job is to develop strategy and tactics for aerial attack on a forest fire. (See FAQ for an explanation of a typical airtanker circuit.) This team remains in communication with the aircraft inbound to the fire as well as onsite ground crews and their command center during the operations.
