It has been involved in a number of projects that were established to assist local producers, particularly those that are involved with farm gate sales. There are a number of producers that are selling directly to consumers, attending farmers markets locally, elsewhere in the province as well as selling to chef’s and retail outlets that are focusing on fresh local products.
CFTC provided support services and seed funding to establish the Thompson Shuswap Chef Farmer Collaborative (TSCFC) in 2010. As a part of the TSCFC it has hosted the Farm2Chef event in August in the past two years. A number of local chefs showcase their restaurant menus by providing food samples prepared with local food along side with a number of the booths that showcase local wine, beer and spirits to compliment the tasty morsels. As well, the TSCFC hosts a “Grow Ops” event in February where chefs detail their food requirements to producers for the next year.
Community Futures Thompson Country (CFTC) was established in 1987 and has successfully been delivering entrepreneurial programs for more than 20 years.
