Description

The Mandate of the C.C.D.C. is to generate and maintain permanent employment in the areas of Ear Falls and Red Lake by: Fostering communication and strong working relationships at both local and regional levels to deal effectively with challenges. Providing financial and advisory services to improve business competitiveness. Facilitating training and education to produce a workforce with the skills required by current and developing employers. Building and equipping a volunteer base dedicated to creating healthy community environments.

The Noorduyn Norseman is a Canadian designed bush plane that has been the rugged workhorse of the "Great Canadian North" for over 50 years. Red Lake is a mecca for the Norseman. By 1937, at the height of the gold rush staking period, Red Lake had the busiest airport in the world. What makes this even more unique was that the Howey Bay is a float plane airport and no radios or control towers existed!

Government Office 227 Howey Street The purpose of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines is to provide services to the residents of Red Lake and the surrounding areas in regard to dealing with the Provincial and Federal Governments.

Beyond the regular retail outlets the area also has a large government sector providing provincial services such as natural resources, northern development and mines, police (OPP), courts, family and social services etc. Federal government services include the post offices and employment services.
