Description

Chris Albert was born in Lebanon in 1959, to Armenian parents. Since an early age, he was attracted to art, mainly drawing and painting, photography was a little hobby on the side, just a tool to stay in touch with his creative side and sanity during the years of civil war. In 1986 he moved to Canada, and slowly that little hobby became a passionate occupation and he began to photograph full time when he opened his studio in downtown Toronto. Chris Albert has been shooting for editorial and corporate clients over fifteen years now, his work has been featured in a wide variety of assignments. Totally self taught, with a lot of experimentation, he created his own approach to seeing his surroundings and subjects and expressing his vision in a distinct way. He has photographed a series of romantic and nostalgic urban settings and nature, emphasizing a dramatic, atmospheric quality to the images. "Exploring our own souls through art is to give a new frame and a new meaning to the world that surrounds us. The way light moves and draws all what's around us, always fascinated me, just like a painter, for a photographer an image is a spiritual channel, used to express an artist's passions and vision." Chris Albert's images are photographed using either 35 mm or medium format cameras. A subject is photographed many times, using different angles and compositions, and sometimes returning another day for fresher look at the subject or better light.
