Description

In this program, we provide a supportive environment for 20 adults as they withdraw from substances. Detox is typically a 7-10 day stay, depending on what people have been using and how much. While people are with us, the staff help to set up next steps; treatment, employment, medical care etc. We also have 5 beds designated for guests that require an extended stay. These beds would be for those people who need a clean place to stay while they are waiting for treatment and depending on the time frame, we can request an extension for their stay from Alberta Health Services.

The RDHT is an interagency team that includes Safe Harbour, Canadian Mental Health, Central Alberta Women’s Outreach and the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter. The activities of the team include: developing and fostering partnerships with landlords and community resources, assessing individual needs, providing case management services, supporting individuals as they connect to doctors, dentists, mental health, or addiction services, assist with landlord negotiations, arrange rent payment options and provide follow up support for up to 6 months to ensure people maintain their housing. This program serves the people in our community that are the most vulnerable and have the greatest acuity of needs.
