Description

As a registered society and charitable organization, CAWES is comprised of over 100 members from the City of Red Deer and other Central Alberta communities and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors of behalf of this membership. Our client population is currently composed of a total of thirty-six people at any given time. These are women who are battered (physically, psychologically, sexually, emotionally), with or without children, and in need of temporary safe refuge from family violence, and whose health and safety would be threatened if they remain in the family home. Victims of rape (or incest) and sexual assault, who have been traumatized to the extent that they are incapable of meeting their own needs or the needs of their children, are also offered safe refuge. Women and children in crisis, abandoned, or destitute and without viable alternatives (ie. family or friends) are also eligible for services...
