Cates Hill Chapel is an interdenominational Christian community that began in 1991. We are affiliated with the Christian Brethren tradition, and also find inspiration from other Christian traditions, particularly in our worship services. We honor the varied backgrounds of our congregation, and have found unity in diversity as we come to know God intimately through Jesus Christ and His Spirit. We desire to serve the needs of "seekers" at every stage of their spiritual journey, no matter how far they have ventured along the path of Christian faith. Although we come from diverse social, educational, economic and cultural backgrounds, we share a common desire to love and worship God with our lips and lives. We also desire to be a community of forgiven and forgiving people. The leadership of Cates Hill Chapel is shared by several elders, including our part-time pastoral elder, David Anderson, who provides pastoral care, coordination of church activities, and periodic teaching and worship leading. Rather than centering the leadership in a few people, our church encourages as much participation as possible. To that end, people volunteer their unique skills and talents in a variety of ways. Some of us lead worship, others teach either in Sunday School or in the worship service; some organize special events, others coordinate youth activities; some make tea and coffee, others set up the altar each Sunday.
