Former Iron Ore Company of Canada boss to lead Seaway September 2, 2010 Terence Bowles, the former head of the Iron Ore Company of Canada, has been named president and CEO of the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation effective Nov. 1. He will replace current SLSMC president and CEO Richard Corfe. Mr. Bowles was president and CEO of the Iron Ore Company of Canada from 2001 until early this year. Prior to that, he worked in various capacities with QIT Fer et Titane du Québec, including five years as president, from 1996 to 2001. "We are very pleased to have someone with Terry Bowles' experience and background to succeed Dick Corfe and I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Dick's contribution in what have been challenging times for the Seaway," said SLSMC chairman Ian MacGregor. "He has agreed to make himself available to help his successor with the transition of responsibilities." The SLSMC also has announced changes to its board of directors. Mr. MacGregor assumed the position of chairman at the board meeting held Aug. 18. He replaces Guy Véronneau, who recently left the board after serving as chair for the past four years. Mr. MacGregor is a director of Seaway Marine Transport and chairman of Golden Star Resources Limited Jonathan Bamberger joined the board on Aug. 28 as the industry representative for the SLSMC's "other members." Mr. Bamberger is president of Redpath Sugar Limited, based in Toronto, and vice-president of commodities for American Sugar Refining Incorporated David Muir joined the board in May as the representative of the federal government.
