Canadian Power Skating Schools began in Orangeville in 1974. As brothers, born and raised in Orangeville, we have been involved in the organization from the very beginning, first as instructors; then in 1983 we became the Owners. By training and utilizing local skaters as instructors we were extremely successful in the development of the skating skills of many individuals within the community. Several went on to higher endeavours within the Canadian hockey scene. The participants ranged in age from 7 to over 50 years old, however the majority were of minor hockey age. With our careers taking us away from home, the school ceased operations for many years, but the return to the Orangeville area, to live and pursue our family lives has provided us the opportunity to reestablish the skating school. It is great to see that hockey is still a huge part of the culture in the community we grew up in. We're not just business owners, we're skating enthusiasts as well, so we both continue to maintain an on-ice presence throughout each and every class; and we have brought together, what we feel are some of the best and most energetic Instructors in the community. The fundamentals of skating have always been the focus and driving force behind our program. We believe this will benefit players and their teams by improving their skating skills, building stamina, agility, speed and confidence.
