Description

Canadian Humanitarian is a registered Canadian charity based in Medicine Hat, Alberta. We are a grassroots organization that derives the majority of our revenues from individual donations and fundraisers put on by our supporters across Canada. Canadian Humanitarian is run by a Board of Directors, chaired by Canadian Humanitarian founder Dr. Richard Northcott. Dr. Ted Cowtan from Alberta, Berthe Bourque from New Brunswick, Vern Hyde from Alberta and Georgia Thul from Saskatchewan make up the rest of the board. We have two full time staff, Sandra Moore, our Executive Director, and Valerie Markin our Administrative Assistant. During the summer months, Bryce Meldrum is employed as our Project Coordinator. Our operating expenses are kept as low as humanly possible. Dedicated members assist CH on the Project Committee, Fundraising Committee and Communications Committee. Canadian Humanitarian started as a branch of an adoption agency (CAFAC) in 1999. As the humanitarian efforts grew, it became evident that it could no longer handle both adoption and service projects.
