Description
Hand Transplants are real but currently have major risks associated to them. Many people find it hard to believe that a heart can be transplanted and often a hand can not, but a hand is actually far more difficult to graft then a heart. In the future Canadian HERO hopes to make significant advancements in both the surgical procedures used to transplant a donor hand to a new host and more importantly the safety of the anti-rejection medication needed by the host. The current side effects of the anti-rejection medication can include rare forms of cancer within ten years of beginning treatment.
