Description
Campfire Island is located on the Ontario side of Rainy Lake in a quiet little bay on the east side of Sand Bay. Its close proximity to the Ontario-Minnesota border at Fort Frances (or International Falls, MN) allows guests to enjoy a very short boat ride from Sorting Gap Marina. Situated just south of the Noden Causeway, Campfire Island is the only Ontario fishing camp with easy access to Rainy Lake’s South Arm and North Arm ... both arms are literally just around the corner. Campfire Island was developed in the 1950’s and 60’s by a man with a vision of a personal paradise. Back then, Brown Badgett’s Campfire Island played host to only his own corporate fishing trips. Well built, well maintained, and now available for all to enjoy, this secluded 11-acre island retreat is a full-service fishing camp like no other. There are 3 guest cabins and a main Dining Lodge, and the maximum guest capacity at any one time is 12 fishermen. Comfortable and spacious accommodations provide modern facilities in a setting that can only be described as “old-world” charm. The original log construction of the buildings has been maintained to provide a unique combination of authentic craftsmanship and modern amenities. Our mantra: world-class smallmouth bass , trophy northern pike , extraordinary walleye Our goal: To have our guests experience the world-class fishery on Rainy Lake to the fullest extent possible! Our guides are some of the best, most experienced guides in the business. All successful tournament anglers in their own right, they have trained themselves to find the biggest fish on any given day and to position the boat so their guests have the best angling opportunity to land a trophy. Rainy Lake is their playground of choice, and they know every inch of it! Our policy of 100% Catch & Release is easy to justify. We do not angle for the smaller fish in the lake, and trophy fish should live to see another day. Due to our catch and release practises, we can target all trophy fish, no matter what species
