Description

We want bright, motivated law students who will progress through our summer student and/or articling programs into Associate roles with Campbell Lea. We will also consider lateral hires in order to fill specific positions with our expanding firm. All discussions with potential hires are on a confidential basis. Interested candidates should forward their C.V. or resume to the attention of the Business Manager via email or regular mail as per the addresses noted on our Contact page . Our Summer Student and Articling Program is designed to provide our summer students and articled clerks with a challenging and exciting foundation to their legal careers. Building on each student's core legal training, we provide exposure to the practice of law by pairing our students and clerks with our experienced and knowledgeable practitioners. It is our goal to give our summer students and articled clerks the tools required to succeed as lawyers at Campbell Lea. Service to our Clients Our focus is on the highest standards of professionalism while providing a broad scope of specialized expertise to our clients. In order to achieve this we draw on the diverse experience and qualities our lawyers bring to the firm. It is also important that our lawyers have a balanced approach to their professional lives in order to provide our clients with the best possible representation. Summer Student and Articling Program The primary objective of our Program is to facilitate the continuum of learning that is a hallmark of legal practice. First and second year students become acquainted with all aspects of our practice including both a research component as well as a practical component to the extent permitted by the Law Society of Prince Edward Island. Students work with lawyers in the firm on a variety of files, from open to close where possible. Articled clerks are assigned to a partner who acts as their principal and oversees their clerkship; however, the whole firm works with our clerks to ensure all articling requirements have been met. During the Program, we help our clerks find and develop areas of practice of particular interest to them with the ultimate goal of assisting our clerks in establishing an Associate practice at Campbell Lea. Salaries and Benefits We offer competitive salaries to articled clerks and summer students; competitive with those at other major Atlantic Region law firms. Articled clerks are paid for a twelve month period, including time spent at the Bar Admission Course. Campbell Lea also covers Law Society fees for articling as well as the tuition for the Bar Admission Course, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island components, and related materials. For clerks asked to join Campbell Lea as Associates, we pay all Law Society fees and professional insurance costs. Articled Clerks also receive membership in the Canadian Bar Association; a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and prescription drug coverage, paid two weeks' vacation; and other possible benefits and prerequisites appropriate to the particular situation.
