Cambridge Door has been a leading manufacturer of high quality architectural wood products since Canada's confederation in 1867, when Robert Gilholm opened his sawmill on Harris Street, in Galt, Ontario. By 1872, Gilholm was well established within the growing wood manufacturing industry that dominated the area. Robert Gilholm's sawmill was purchased in 1900 by the P.W. Gardiner Company, and was successfully transformed into a manufacturer of interior and exterior doors.
