Mr. Hazell has been involved in the global oil and gas industry for over 30 years, initially as a petroleum engineer and laterally as an investment banker. At present, he primarily serves as a Director of a number of for profit and community organizations including Calgary Opera, CAWST, Oryx Petroleum, CMLC and the Calgary YMCA. Mr. Hazell holds engineering degrees from Queen's University and the University of Calgary, has an MBA from the University of Michigan, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta. He resides in Calgary.

Let’s Create an Opera has been successfully teaching children about the process of opera creation for over 10 years. For the school involved it is a full year of creative and engaging team work towards a final product, a completely original opera.

Founded in 1972, the Calgary Chorus’ membership includes the finest amateur and semi-professional singers available. Participants represent a cross-section of our community including doctors, lawyers, accountants, home-makers, lifeguards and university students, and span a wide scope of age groups. Several choristers have left the chorus to pursue professional singing careers. Now in its 42nd season, the Calgary Opera Chorus boasts a vast repertoire and has performed with numerous world-class singers, conductors and directors.

Don Edie was born in Edmonton, but quickly moved south and was raised and has since resided in Calgary, with the exception of his legal education back in Edmonton, graduating in 1976. Don is Counsel to the firm of Carscallen LLP, where he practices law, primarily in the Canadian and international energy sectors and before Canadian regulatory boards. Don has been active with Calgary Opera, as a subscriber for more than two decades, as a director for some years and as a member of the Calgary Opera Chorus for more than 20 years.

Matias Grum was born in Buenos Aires and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Master's Degree in Economics from the UBA University in Argentina, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Calgary. He has 10 years of experience in Wealth Management as an Investment Advisor with BMO Nesbitt Burns, and has worked as an economist for Shell and for the Government of Argentina. Matias also serves on the Haskayne MBA Alumni Counselling Board, and is a former Member of the Executive Board of the Canadian Council for the Americas.
