North York is one of the largest areas of Toronto. Prior to 1998 when it was merged into the city of Toronto, North York was the region’s second largest municipality. As one of the most diverse areas in Toronto, North York is a collection of multicultural neighbourhoods with large Asian, West Indies, African, Middle Eastern, Jewish, Latin American and European communities. The region is also home to some of Toronto’s most affluent sections, including the York Mills, Hogg’s Hollow, Bridle Path and Willowdale neighbourhoods. In addition, the region is home to a growing central business district on Yonge Street, between Sheppard and Finch Avenues. Once considered a suburb of Toronto, North York has developed into an urban centre in recent years, with numerous corporations building office towers and establishing their Canadian headquarters in the area. CDI College’s North York campus can be found at 4950 Yonge St. Students will find a range of shops, restaurants and personal services in the area around the campus. Along with several bus routes nearby, the campus is a short walk from the North York and Sheppard-Yonge subway lines.

This course will teach students the key techniques for working with Fireworks. They’ll learn how to design screen-based graphics, interfaces, and applications for any device. They’ll also learn to collaborate with other Adobe Creative Suite applications to design and mock up basic Web pages or interfaces for rich Internet applications; create demo designs and export the design as an interactive PDF. The course focuses on the fundamental workflow tools and how they are used in working with bitmapped and vector graphics. Students will learn about the Fireworks work area, the tools and features of Fireworks and how to create bitmapped and vector graphics for use in variety of applications. The course will also explore the fundamentals of prototyping.

This course covers Microsoft Excel 2010. This course will present the Microsoft Excel application interface, tools and features. You will learn about the fundamentals of spreadsheets, working with data, formatting cells, working with ranges of data and cells as well as applying functions and formulas to manipulate the data in the rows and columns of a spreadsheet. In addition, you will learn how to present tabular data in a variety of different chart formats.
