After years of working with my hands, I have taken the enormous step of following my passion of building fine furniture. To ensure that I would get it right, I enrolled myself in a full year of instruction at Rosewood Studios in Almonte, Ontario where I was taught by some of the finest furniture designers and builders in the business today. My goal is to create one of a kind pieces of furniture that are not only functional but beautiful. I enjoy working with solid woods of all kinds, and there are countless varieties and variations from which to choose. When starting a project it is sometimes more difficult to decide on the wood than on the final design. When solid wood is not an option due to construction restrictions, then making my own veneers is my first option. Why commission a craftsman to create and build a piece of furniture? It can take years of searching to find that perfect accent piece of furniture to compliment your room or fit in a particular space. Perhaps you settle for something that you have found in a store, only to see it used in someone else's home. The commissioning process is quite simple with furniture by Sean. We will sit down and talk about what you are looking for. You may have clippings from a catalogue or magazine, or a sketch to use as a starting point. From this information, more detailed drawings will be made to help come up with a design. If needed, a model will be made of either part or all of the piece so you can truly visualize the detail and size. A quote and time line can now be established. If a design is agreed upon, then a deposit is taken. Wood is ordered and the work can begin on your one of a kind piece of furniture.
