Description

Mavis and Jim Olesen have had extensive experience as educators in Regina SK Canada. Both have taught in the public school system. Mavis has also been a school principal, an administrator and an educational consultant. Jim has also developed and written curriculum for Social Sciences courses for Saskatchewan Education. On retiring they volunteered their many years of experience as educators to the Tham Hin Education Project.

The Burma Medical Association (BMA) was successfully founded in Marneplaw, Burma on June 8 1991, at the National health Conference, which was convened under the auspices of the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma. Physicians, nurses, health officials, technicians in the medical field, and also other interested parties in the liberated area attended the meeting to coordinate the foundation of BMA.

On the other hand, imports from Burma are significant and continue to grow, despite our knowledge of widespread forced labour in the country. Burma also remains the world's second largest producer of opium after Afghanistan, and the largest source of heroin entering Canada.

The goal of each Health and Human Rights workshop has been to provide health workers with the ability: To acquire a basic understanding of the history, sources and contents of international human rights law and treaties, including the right to health. To understand and explore the value and impact of the links between health and human rights. To analyze the health impacts resulting from violations of human rights.
