Description

The Circle of Strength is a dynamic interactive presentation. Using colourful floor mats, Ms. Brierley plays out a variety of scenarios, clearly demonstrating the various patterns of behaviour involved in conflicts in organizations, between people and within individuals. Having worked in the human relations field for over 30 years, Ms. Brierley developed “The Circle of Strength™” as a means of sharing the wealth of knowledge she has gleaned from her relationship work over the years.

Many people waste enormous amounts of energy in frustration, criticizing themselves or acting out on others when things don't go, as they want them to. The result for many they are engaged with is a diminishing sense of self-confidence or a sense of low self-esteem. When we feel confident, we are: more likely to treat ourselves and others with respect, are more open to working with others and more willing to attempt new skills and behaviours. Based on Perceptual Control Theory, Ms.

Shelley’s approach , is eclectic in nature, partially due to the broad experience she brings to the wide range of services she offers. Regardless of the service, her hallmarks are : a a belief in personal and social responsibility, a focus on wellness, strengths, wants, needs, increasing awareness of successes and strengths, defining core beliefs, shifting perception, values clarification, focusing primarily on the present and future, helping individuals, families and teams clarify what they want, and challenging those involved to consider and focus on what they actually have some control of.

Ms. Brierley has worked with couples, teams and organizations facilitating minor and major conflicts. She sees her primary role in these situations as assisting people in finding or creating common ground. This process involves people in clarifying their personal visions and past successes, and identifying values and beliefs involved. Once done, Shelley teaches and demonstrates an individuals’ ability to communicate the same to one another, through actions, speech and listening. So all participants have an equal ability to participate, this involves learning new skills and strategies. Ms.
