I have 25 years of experience in the alternative health field and over the course of that time, the role of a health practitioner was to encourage clients to exchange medical prescription pills for vitamin and herbal pills in order to correct health conditions. It seemed like a good idea at the time to reduce drug side effects and get people on different lifestyle choices. The problem is that health practitioners have lost sight of the original intent of working in the alternative field, which was to look at clients from a holistic view and help them make better lifestyle changes. I can count on one hand during my 25 years of how many clients wanted to be on more than 2 supplements at any one time. So busting media promoted dietary myths, explaining good solid nutrition information and guidance of steps on how to make those changes are much more important to the average client than taking a handful of expensive vitamin pills.
