The company, Ecological Chambers Inc. trades under the name
"Enconair'. Enconair manufactures Plant Growth Chambers,
Environmental Rooms, Tissue Culture Chambers/Rooms, Seed
Germinators and Incubators. Expertise is in the enginering and manufacturing of Chambers where Temperature, Lighting, Humidity and Carbon Dioxide control is of critical importance. The company's "Growth Room" series of products was designed as a cost effective replacement for greenhouses, and experience has shown that Plant Growth Rooms are less expensive to buy than Research
Greenhouses. Enconair has developed the vertical air flow system through the shelves as used in the Tissue Culture Chambers and
Rooms, with the advantage that condensation does not form on petrie dishes. This system has become the standard in the Plant
Growth Industry.

Four more new leading edge products have recently been developed:

- A new Computer Controller that is sold with each chamber manufactured by Enconair, which runs a Windows 95 software program to control Temperature, Lights, Humidity and Carbon
Dioxide. Enconair software is very user friendly and has a touchscreen interface. Each of the control parameters can be graphed and data saved to disk.

- A new Refrigeration Defrost System that will allow Plant
Scientists to conduct experiments at -5 degrees C. without deviation for defrost. This system is less expensive to purchase than other systems in the market and the technology can be adpated to small Plant Growth Chambers. The result is Plant
Scientists can study the effects of freezing on plants for a lot less money.

- The company has produced the first energy-efficient Plant
Growth Chamber in the marketplace. This new design results in a significant reduction in electrical consumption. An
"Energy-Efficient Plant Growth Chamber" is presently being tested at an Agriculture Canada Research Station.

- Enconair has the ability to anticipate the failure of
Refrigeration System on Plant Growth Chambers before it happens.
The Refrigeration is monitored by the use of Pressure and
Temperature Sensors that are strategically located in the refrigeration system, giving advance notice of when a failure will occur; thus preventing the loss of a plant experiment. With a modem installed on the Chamber Controller, this critical information can be sent via the telephone lines back to the factory.

Other products which Enconair is presently developing include improved Temperature Control, improved Humidity Control, improved
Carbon Dioxide Control, HID and LED Lighting Systems.

Ecological Chambers Inc. is presently working towards becoming
ISO 9001 Certified. Projected completion date in June 1998.
