Dr. Erickson graduated from Dalhousie University in 1977 with his B.S. in microbiology and with his dental degree in 1981. After working for one year as a dentist in Dartmouth, he went back to university to study orthodontics. He graduated in 1984 from the University of Western Ontario with his Masters of Clinical Dentistry and moved back to the Maritimes, where he set up practices in Dartmouth and Bedford. As well, Dr. Erickson is an assistant professor at Dalhousie University, where he has been teaching dental students for over 20 years.

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile. We work very closely with the oral and maxillofacial surgeons to develop the proper treatment plan to maximize the overall functional and esthetic benefits of treatment.
