Nov 11/11 - Remembrance Day, Lest We Forget. Senator has gone to his new home, thank you Lauren! Blizzard arrived, he is a beautiful 4 yr old appaloosa gelding, has even been ridden but is losing his eyesight. Bison and Dusty were adopted together and went to their new home, thank you Ginny and Jenna! Doll and Cruze, 2 of the new additions from the auction have been adopted and went to their new home in Crowsnest, thank you Roxy and Elisha! Today we are delivering Marika and Juliet, 2 more new additions from the auction, to their new home in Stavely, thank you Lesli!

Dec 19/10 - Bond, Delilah and Poppy were adopted out today, though they'll be here for a little while yet. Harriet and Jigger had their teeth floated. Also they were both tested for Cushing's. Jigger was negative but Harriet does have Cushing's so she'll be on medication (and a diet!). Thank goodness her new foster family are willing to still take her on. Juno has gone back to Janine's on foster, and thank you Lesli for taking Flash on as foster and possible adoption. Kitch will also be going to Lesli as her daughter has fallen for him.

Nov 3/09 - We had a lot of fun with Gord and Phyllis Searle last weekend, working with the horses. We took Zan, Allie#3, and Dodge the first day, and Eclipse, Spirit#1, Shay and Cash#2 the second day. They were all really good, they gave Gord a nice cross-section of horses to work with with different issues. I must say that the horses all impressed me with their willingness to load! Eclipse was very good going in and out of the trailer, and they self-loaded themselves the second day to come home. We'll post info on the training dvd's featuring our horses when they become available.

'Rescue' Horses Our horses, while perhaps less expensive than other horses, may have issues: they may have been abused or neglected and need to learn to trust humans; they may have physical conditions that require particular care; they may not have had any handling or only minimal training. Do you have the time, finances, and skill to work with and maintain a horse? Commitment: You must be able and willing to spend consistent, extensive time with your horse. Note, too, that a horse can live for over 30 years.

Cash was with us for over 6 years. We bought her at auction in mid-2005 by outbidding the meat buyer. We had her quietly euthanized at 26 years of age as we did not want to put her through another winter because her arthritis was getting worse. She was another of those nice, quiet, older mares that are discarded all the time once they've outlived their usefulness. Cash (registered name 'Give Her Cash') was very well-bred, a granddaughter of Dash for Cash. She raced 6 times as a 2-year-old and had 8 foals, all of which probably contributed to her eventually becoming arthritic.
