Canada has one of the top animal health systems in the world, due in large part to the commitment and efforts of the animal health industry. The CFIA develops national biosecurity standards, protocols and strategies for livestock, poultry and aquaculture production. We do this in collaboration with producer organizations, provincial and territorial governments, and academia. Together, we can help protect the health of Canadian livestock and maintain consumer confidence in our products by continuing to promote biosecurity on farms and at livestock facilities.

To oversee the production activities of BC broiler hatching egg producers and regulate the marketing of their product and to act as a leader for the BC broiler hatching egg producers in dealings with other participants in the chicken meat industry.

Canadian Broiler Hatching Egg Marketing Agency (CBHEMA) Founded in 1986 the Canadian Broiler Hatching Egg Marketing Agency (CBHEMA) represents nearly 300 farmers for British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. CBHEMA finances its activities through levies collected from the members.

The main responsibility of the CFC is to ensure that Canada's 2,800 farmers produce enough chicken to meet the needs of the market place. The system is commonly known as supply management.
