Introduction Imagine this: You're desperately making a pitch to clients in London regarding a state of the art refractive center, but they remain stubbornly unconvinced of your company's tremendous potential. During lunch, you dash outside the pub and instruct your handheld computer to "Get Susan fast." On command, your gizmo "sniffs" its electromagnetic surroundings, senses the local GSM wireless network, and calls Susan, your colleague, in Washington, D.C. Susan's in-the-wall office computer answers, but it's early morning in D.C., and her computer's sensors tell it she's not yet in the office.
