BC KELP is a small family business which produces a premium quality sea product. In small batches, the Kelp is selectively hand harvested for outstanding quality. The fronds are then cut with stainless steel scissors, leaving the stipe intack and kelp fronds to regrow. The Kelp fronds are naturally ocean rinsed. Carefully separated and hung from stainless steel lines, the Kelp slowly sun or indoor dries (weather depending) to preserve its vitamins and minerals and to expose its rich green color. When the weather does not permit sun drying the kelp is indoor dried by hot air, radient heaters, fuelled by propane. BC KELP focuses on two major seaweeds, Bullwhip kelp (Nereocystis leutkeana) and Bladderwrack (Fucus spp.).Both are well recognized for their loaded nutritional and medicinal properties.
