AVALON LANDSCAPING TECHNOLOGIES INC. is a full-service design, construction and garden maintenance firm, based in Richmond Hill and Holland Landing, Ontario. Founder Steve Chanady started Avalon Landscaping in 1965 in Toronto. At that time AVALON was one of the only names under " A" in the Yellow Pages Landscape heading. Steves training as a Horticultural specialist allowed him to gain a share of the available market place, by providing the consumer with top quality products and services, at a competitive rate. Avalon's specialty at that time was planting and gardening services. The demand for Avalon's reliable services grew, and Steve expanded Avalon to take on all aspects of not only the soft landscaping but also the hard landscaping that was demanded and very much in need by the growing clientele. The Landscape Industry continued to grow, and felt a need for a Horticultural Association that would represent all professionals in the field in a practical, educational and political environment. Steve Chanady, along with a group of other professionals, started to meet on industry issues on a regular basis. All who attended the meetings were in favour of Provincial Association that they could all be part of. That association is LANDSCAPE ONTARIO, which was founded in 1973. Landscape Ontario joined landscape contractors, garden maintenance contractors, nurserymen, and other related sectors together to provide services that would enhance professionalism and business potential...
