Accessibility - Arts Umbrella is dedicated to making arts education available to as many children and youth as possible in Metro Vancouver, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances. More than 12,000 children access programs annually free of charge or at a reduced rate through outreach programs and bursaries.

Outreach Arts Umbrella’s Outreach programs harness the magic, experience and expertise of Arts Umbrella programs and bring free-of-charge, high quality arts education directly to schools and community and neighbourhood centres. Accessibility is one of Arts Umbrella’s key mandates; overcoming barriers to participation and addressing vulnerability factors means more children can access the life-long benefits of arts education. Through Outreach programs, children and youth who may not otherwise have access receive the opportunity to explore the arts as creators, audiences and performers. By working directly with schools and community service providers, Arts Umbrella ensures programs meet the needs of the children in each specific community, from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside to Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood.
