Kitchener-based hair stylist Lina Shamoun "“ founder and owner of Artline Salon "“ has created a new hair show, which premieres Sunday November 21. "The idea behind Hair United 2010 is to bring together an eclectic group of neighbouring hair salons," says Shamoun, 26. "I'm fortunate to take part in industry competitions around the world, but I realized that I don't know much about other salons and stylists that are closer to home." Shamoun immigrated to Canada from Iraq in 1998. After five years learning her craft working at various salons, she started her own business in December 2007. Hair United brings together nine salons "“ including Shamoun's "“ to celebrate the shared talent and creativity. "I wanted to connect with the finest local hairstylists, get to know them better, and create more of a network and community. I've always wanted to attend a hair show that would unite all of us so we could celebrate the creativity that we all share." However, such an event didn't exist, so Shamoun decided to set up her own. She got in touch with several of her contacts and now the inaugural Hair United show will feature presentations from eight salons "“ including Artline Salon "“ from Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and Cambridge. There will be over 20 creative stylists, unique fashion ideas, and music to entertain the audience. Students from Cambridge's hair institute St. Louis Adult Learning Centre will also be in attendance. This gives them the opportunity to meet and work alongside established stylists. Shamoun says, "We're inviting all our clients to join us. Dress to impress, and come to enjoy the art that inspires us all." The events' participants are Artline Salon, Cucci Cabello, So Chic Studio, Hot Heads Salon, Fad Hair Studio, Salon 126, Oiseau Salon, Acqua Salon, and St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre. Sponsors: Advance tickets for Hair United 2010 are available from Artline Salon for $25. Tickets cost $30 at the door. The event will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at The Children's Museum in Kitchener ( www.thechildrensmuseum.ca ). All proceeds from Hair United 2010 are being donated to THEMUSEUM.
