The IDEEL institute was established in southeastern France in 2011.It brings together prominent organizations from industry and research (Arkema group, CNRS, GDF Suez, IFP Energies nouvelles, Technical Center of Plastics Engineering (PEP), and the University of Lyon) to develop a world-class innovation platform to develop eco-technologies, low-carbon energies, and the “low-carbon” factory of tomorrow.

Already extensively present in the cables market, the Arkema group is mobilizing its innovation resources to provide solutions for the electronics market. This sector is now facing the technological limits of silicon-based components.

Oxidizing organic products used as initiators for polymerization and as crosslinking (curing) agents in a wide range of plastics. Arkema markets its organic peroxides family under the tradename Luperox ® . Arkema is the world’s second largest producer of organic peroxides.

The Group also manufactures polyamide 12 (12 carbon atoms) derived from oil, marketed under the tradename Rilsamid ® .

Initially, the aim is to develop piezoelectric inks . These conductive polymer inks are printable on flexible materials such as tags. These smart tags are equipped with sensors and are able to provide useful information about a product or its storage conditions. Household objects, such as packaging, may soon be equipped with sensors (e.g. temperature, shock, humidity) and communication tools.
