Arbutus Commercial Furniture Ltd We formed some 20 years ago making furniture for schools and colleges to mach local needs. This quickly progressed to a small factory on Arbutus Street in Vancouver hence the name "Arbutus commercial Furniture". We then started to produce commercial office furniture for the RCMP, hospitals and many other companies operating in Greater Vancouver. We set up dealers to offer our products and to satisfy a growing need. The Arbutus "Radius" office furniture which meets all the ergonomics of today's demanding customer had been designed and sales followed. In 2001 a change of ownership visualized more products could be manufactured but bigger space would be required. We Moved to West 7th Avenue more than doubling our factory and showroom space. The latest machinery arrived our new C.N.C. which was nicknamed "Robutus". This machine is capable of large volumes is very accurate and can cut 1000's of shapes and sizes and quality improvements were significant. In 2002 Arbutus Closets Ltd a sister company started designing and selling closet organizers which was an instant hit with our new customers. Arbutus Commercial Furniture not to be outdone started to produce home office products. Then the big move into wallbeds or as many people call them murphy beds. Now with more staff and more products both companies offered custom products. This transformed sales even higher and account for more then a third of business today.
