That depends on the hot tub. The better insulated the hot tub, the less it will cost you per month to operate. Look for a hot tub with full foam insulation for maximum energy savings. Heat rises, so a major source of heat loss and energy consumption can be reduced by choosing an energy efficient cover with a full length steamer bar at the hinge. Finally, there are many ways that manufacturers can build energy savings into their hot tubs. Engineering and design play a large, albeit often invisible, part as does the quality of the equipment used.

As you use your hot tub, so you contribute to the build up of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the water. When this reaches a level of about 1000 to 1200 parts per million (ppm) the water in your tub becomes more difficult to balance and you may find it more difficult to maintain an adequate sanitizer level. Many of our customers say the water, "just doesn't feel right." Depending upon the level of TDS in the start up water, the overall volume of water in the tub and the average daily bather load, most of our customers find that they are changing their water on average every 3 - 4 months.
