Layne Christensen In January 2011, Aqua-Pure and Layne Christensen Company (NASDAQ: LAYN) announced the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding whereby the firms will join forces to provide comprehensive treatment and disposal solutions in challenging shale gas and other industrial wastewater applications. The alliance allows both companies to market the other’s products and services, and seeks to exploit their complementary technologies to provide shale gas operators with a “turnkey solution” for treatment of flowback, produced water and other waste streams.

SALSNES FILTERS The Salsnes Filter system was developed in rural Norway to address the need to provide compact primary sewage treatment. It has been widely implemented across Europe (especially Scandinavia). Salsnes North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aqua-Pure Ventures, has built awareness of the technology across North America over the past ten years and recently installed two units apiece in Kelowna and Ladysmith, British Columbia. The Salsnes Filter incorporates an endless mesh screen, moving upwards in a continual motion, concurrent with the influent flow.

HISTORY Aqua-Pure Ventures was founded in 1992 in Calgary, Alberta. Since that time, the company has expanded to multiple North American locations, formed alliances with other leading firms and developed the most advanced technologies for treating and disposing of shale gas and other industrial wastewater applications in the industry. Here are a few highlights from our corporate history -- 1992-1996 – Company develops prototype evaporator technology in Kelowna, British Columbia, specifically for treating landfill leachate.

Jacob Halldorson, Chief Executive Officer Jake Halldorson is Chief Executive Officer of Aqua-Pure Ventures, Inc., and he has served on the Board of Directors of the company since March 30, 1998. He was previously a senior executive and founding partner of Colt Engineering Corporation, a Calgary-based private engineering firm founded in 1973. Halldorson was directly involved in the creation of the Syncrude Strategic Alliance and the Imperial Oil/Colt Alliance, which he managed for a two-year period.
