Conventional Braces, Invisalign Dr. Greg Barnett handles orthodontic patients at Appleway Dental Clinics, and is happy to provide treatments for both teenagers and adults. The two methods of orthodontics available at our practice include conventional orthodontics (metal bracket and wire braces) and Invisalign aligners. During the patient's first visit to learn whether or not orthodontic treatment can benefit his or her smile, Dr. Barnett does a full examination. Pictures are taken of the patient's smile along with x-rays. The patient can take this time to ask any questions they may have about orthodontics and learn which treatment may be best. They work with a treatment coordinator to discuss further details, such as financing with payment plans or scheduling regular visits over the course of treatment. Patients as young as seven can visit Dr. Barnett for an orthodontic examination. The permanent teeth usually appear at this point and allow the dentist to determine any issues that may be developing in the child's smile. This is the best time to have early, interceptive treatment for the best results by the teenage years.

A common method of sedation used at our practice is that of IV (Intravenous) sedation. IV sedation is extremely deep, and the medication is administered straight into the blood stream with an IV. Patients are conscious and cooperative with the dentist, though they are deeply relaxed. They come out of the sedation with little to no memory of the appointment, making it a wonderful way to reduce fears and anxieties associated with dental care. Only dentists who are qualified to provide IV sedation are allowed to administer this medication, and have the ability to determine if a patient is a proper candidate. A qualified dentist examines the patient's medical and dental history before administering IV sedation, and they monitor the patient continuously throughout the procedure. Alternative Sedation Methods At Appleway Dental Clinics, we understand that IV sedation may not be the best solution for you. We also offer oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide sedation, which may be considered.
