Description

We are well into our third decade of music-making and are excited to welcome Amici's newest member, Serouj Kradjian. Serouj brings to Amici not only his pianistic prowess but also his ability to arrange and to compose. Indeed in our December 7th concert we will be presenting his new work, "11:41 In Memoriam" which commemorates the victims of the devastating earthquake in Armenia which occurred on December 7, 1988. This programme will also include one of Amici's signature works, the "Quartet for the End of Time" as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Olivier Messiaen's birth. Serouj also has many exciting ideas for programming and recording and we are currently preparing Amici's 10th CD which will include much of the music by Armenian composers of our May 2007 concert with Serouj and soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian. Isabel will also be featured in our last concert of this season, "Schubert and Tango". We are also happy to welcome back many of our "old friends" who have become part of our family in addition to several prominent musicians new to Amici's audiences. The first concert includes three wonderful string players from Montreal and our third concert features the brilliant principal wind players from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. We will also be featuring a special mystery guest in this concert to perform the part as narrator for the "Story of Babar (the little elephant)" during our evening of celebrating the unique music of Francis Poulenc. ...
