Ambassador Outdoor Education

Description

Ambassador Outdoor Education was started in 2002 by Debbie van Berkel, certified by Leave No Trace in Boulder, Colorado and trained by the internationally recognized National Outdoor Leadership School. Our goal is to make learning about the outdoors and the environment as affordable and as interesting as possible. To accomplish this, we rely on a variety of skilled part-time staff, each with their own specializations and area of expertise (first aid, sailing, backpacking, bear awareness, nutrition, survival etc.). Debbie has had a life-long interest in keeping our public parks and wilderness areas as pristine as possible. Having grown up on Vancouver Island, she gained a keen interest in backpacking, hiking and our impact on the environment. She spent many years with Girl Guides in various roles such as Camp Advisor, Trainer etc., was awarded the coveted "Silver Merrit" and developed some of their training programs. Since 2002, we have already trained and certified over 90 Leave No Trace trainers. Our guides and instructors are some of the best in the business.
