Occupational therapists help people whose ability to function in everyday living is disrupted by physical illness or injury, developmental problems, the aging process, mental illness or emotional problems. The primary role of an occupational therapist is to enable clients to fulfill needs and purpose as they interact in their environment: looking after themselves, enjoying life, and contributing to the social and economic fabric of their community.
