At Aklak Air, we are committed to providing our customers with dependable, cost-effective cargo and freight services. In collaboration with our partners, Aurora Expediting Services Limited (AES) located in Inuvik and their parent company, Braden Burry Expediting (BBE) headquartered in Edmonton, we provide an integrated suite of services to ensure your cargo and freight arrive in tact and on time.
Aklak Air is a commercial aviation company based in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. The company was formed in 1994 as a joint venture between the Inuvialuit Development Corporation and Kenn Borek Air Ltd., offering you over 55 years of Arctic aviation experience. Our goal is to provide our customers with safe, reliable and cost effective air transportation service, wherever and whenever we fly.
In our every day operations, we are steadfast in our commitment to supporting the Inuvialuit and community efforts to provide sustainable economic development. We provide employment and training opportunities to the Inuvialuit, and we support a wide range of local not-for-profit organizations, fundraising efforts and development programs by donating tickets and services in the ISR. Aklak Air also provides support to local youth by providing special rates for sports and educational trips.
Transporting patients by air is a specialized field, and here in the western Arctic, an essential service that we at Aklak Air take very seriously. During our two decades of experience serving the north, working in collaboration with the Stanton Territorial Health Authority, we have developed the expertise and capacity to operate a dedicated air ambulance in the MacKenzie Delta - Beaufort Sea region. We pride ourselves to providing the highest quality medevac service by ensuring patients are transported in the most efficient aircraft available, and accompanied by qualified medical personnel.
Aklak Air is proud to have been serving the Inuvialuit Settlement Region for 15 years as the primary provider of air transportation. During that time, we have delivered dependable scheduled, cargo and charter air services, as well as specialized community services such as food mail and medevac. Since our inception, our priority has been to provide you with safe, reliable and efficient air service. Our aircraft are flown by dual flight crews trained in cockpit management and all hold Transport Canada Instrument Flight Ratings.
