4L Communications was founded in 1996 by Al Koop, with the support of his wife Lea Ann. He named the company after his 4 children: Lindsay, Lars, Larissa, and Lyle. The first location was an MTS Mobility kiosk, located in Kildonan Place Shopping Centre.
