Description
Farah Haq is the therapist who provides counselling care at the Centre. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). She has Masters in Counselling Psychology and has experience in various provincially and federally funded programs like “Stopping the Violence ”, “Grief and Loss ”, and “Family Preservation and Reunification ”. Her main focus in counselling is working with people who have experienced grief and loss, stress, anxiety, trauma, violence, and abuse issues. Farah provides counselling support to children/youth, individuals, couples, and families who are facing a wide variety of life stresses and challenges, loss of a loved one, miscarriage, infertility, or trauma. She also works with those individuals and couples who require counselling in order to address conflicts in their relationship or need support to find solutions which are uniquely suited to them and to their particular situations. There is no age limit in her counselling care provision. She runs a special fee plan suited to meet the needs of those who are over sixty. Farah is an immigrant herself. She has Masters in English Literature and is fluent in three Asian languages namely, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. She provides counselling care for people who have immigrated to Canada, and need some validation and emotional support in their newly-acquired life styles and the life that they have left behind. She also provides individual counselling support to second and third generation immigrants. Counselling theories like Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Feminist, and Person-Centered forms the basis of the counselling care offered by Farah. Her clients can expect significant relief from emotional pain and sufferings as well as concrete individual support like provision of reading material/lists, referrals to other professionals, and help in development of new set of coping tools and strengths to move on ahead in life.
